Your eight-step journey to the right pony
The structured process every actively-supported member walks through.
First WhatsApp
A warm hello and a quick two-way conversation about whether we're the right fit for each other. I'll ask about your rider, your budget, and your rough timeline. You'll ask me anything you like.
Discovery call
30-60 minutes on the phone. This is where I ask the questions no advert ever will - the goals, the fears, the family dynamics, what your instructor thinks, whether you're really ready for a pony at all.
Wishlist & profile
You complete three short online forms: rider profile, wishlist (heights, breed, temperament, discipline), and non-negotiables (deal-breakers, health flags, hard limits). I turn these into a working brief for the search.
Onboarding & retainer
Contract signed, retainer paid, welcome pack arrives with the guidance library credentials and my direct number. Your first 12-week period starts now.
Shortlist & review
Spotted a pony you like the look of? Send it straight over. Most of the ponies I review are ones you’ve found yourself - an advert, a sales video, a friend of a friend - and I’ll give you my honest opinion before you get your heart set on one. I’ll also add ponies from the open market and my private network that match your brief. I check the adverts and videos for soundness and suitability, ask the sellers the awkward questions, and tell you plainly which ones are worth viewing.
Viewing your shortlist
When a pony makes the cut, I book the viewing, coordinate with the seller and help you plan what to look for and what to ask on the day. Where your tier includes it, I or my team will go and see the pony in person for you.
Vetting & negotiation
Once you've found "the one", I coordinate the pre-purchase vet exam and sit in on it (by phone if remote, in person if local). I translate the vet report, flag any concerns, negotiate the price if there's cause to, and walk you through the paperwork.
Handover & aftercare
Delivery organised, arrival day supported, and my number in your phone for the settle-in weeks. Tier 2 members get 4 weeks of aftercare included. Tier 3 members have ongoing support baked into the membership for as long as you stay.
A few honest words on buying your first pony
Size matters - but not the way you think
A pony that's too small is usually far better than a pony that's too big. Children ride better on ponies they can manage. I'll always err toward the smaller, sensible option.
Age is a virtue
Green rider + green pony = the wrong equation. My ponies are usually 8 to 16 - the age where they know their job and enjoy doing it.
Budget honestly
Factor in livery, feed, tack, transport, farrier, vet, insurance, lessons and entries. The pony is just the beginning. I'll happily walk you through realistic numbers.
Trust your gut
If something feels off - ask. If a seller pushes for a quick decision, walk away. The right pony is worth waiting for. Always.
Everything else you might be wondering
Do you guarantee I'll find a pony in 12 weeks with Tier 2?
No — and I'd be suspicious of anyone who did. Some searches take three weeks, some take three months. The 12-week timebox is a commitment to my time, not a delivery promise. If we haven't found "the one" by week 12, we talk about whether it makes sense to step up to Tier 1, where I also source off-market ponies through my own network.
What if I want to buy privately, without your involvement?
You always can. The whole point of Tier 3 is to arm you with everything you need to go it alone with confidence. Many families use Tier 3 for their child's first pony and come back for Tier 2 when it's time for the more competitive next step up.
Do you take commission from sellers if I buy through you?
Absolutely never. My fee is what you pay for the membership. That is my only income from your search. If I ever accepted commission from a seller, my incentive would tilt in their direction and my advice would be worthless.
Can I upgrade or downgrade partway through?
Yes. Plenty of families start with Tier 3 and move up to Tier 2 or Tier 1 once they know how much support they'd like. Just let me know and we'll talk through how what you've already paid is taken into account.
What areas of the UK do you cover?
Everywhere. My network spans the whole of England, most of Wales, and reaches into Scotland via referrals. Most viewings involve some travel — I coordinate distance, direction, and clustering so you're not driving three counties for one pony.
How does payment work for Tier 2?
£250 to start, which covers 12 weeks of active searching and renews every 12 weeks until you find your pony. When you buy, the final fee is £250 or 2.5% of the pony’s price, whichever is higher.
