Pony Diaries
What is Pony Pairing? How do you differ from other agents?

As a mum of two daughters, I’ve personally been on the quest to find the perfect pony.
Pre COVID I was that mum trailing up and down the country turning up to see unsound or unsuitable ponies advertised by ignorant or unscrupulous sellers who were willing to let my children ride un-schooled, out of work and downright dangerous ponies without any thought for their safety.
Being small enough at 5’3 and eight stone to jump on myself I was fortunate that any real gangsters would throw the shapes with me on top rather than my children, but I understand this is not always the case.
I wanted to set up a completely unbiased service unconnected to any particular vendors that gave an overview of all the ponies currently on the open market. Whether through private sales, small producers or dealers. I don’t want to be influenced or commissioned by the dealers and aim to offer impartial advice, ask diligent questions and gain real time videos to assess soundness and suitability before stepping out of the door and embarking on 1/2 a day journey with kids in the car, or losing £500 on a vetting. 10 minutes of the seller’s time can possibly show a pony that is quite obviously unsound or a hand shorter than advertised!
There is nothing worse than looking at the glossy videos and pictures from a pony advertised that were taken three years ago when the reality is that the ponies been sat in the field for six months without jockey and is currently not in a fit enough state to be shown for sale.
About Me:
I was the kid in my teens that people looked to, to sort out the problem ponies, the troubled ponies the ones that bucked and reared and napped. I was the kid that turned up at Pony Club in the old tatty trailer when most had big waggons. I was the kid with non-horsey parents, that had to work with grit and determination and ride to the show an hour down the road, in order to compete. That was me in Pony Club riding alongside Becky Moody, Oliver Townsend and the Whitaker dynasty and still holding my own.
I’ve always had a natural empathy and affinity with horses I believe it is a gift and at the age of 13 unbeknownst to me I backed and started my first horse, a four-year-old Hanovarian, 16hh chestnut mare…. and so the journey began. In order for me to move up the ranks and move off ponies I had to back train educate and work with the young horses or the ones that nobody else would take on and it’s a real passion of mine and where I get most personal satisfaction.
So far in 2026 (As of end March) I’ve matched 16 ponies and horses with new partners. Lady year 2925 I helped to match 47 perfect ponies and handsome horses to their next best friend. My friendly forthrightness and ability to read between the lines of an advert or call out BS means that I have an abundance of glowing reviews and references from buyers and sellers alike who appreciate a steady informed pair of hands to guide horses and ponies into their new homes.
I work in harmony with my clients to undergo a personalised and bespoke assessment process. To find out what their environmental situation is for a new horse or pony. How they will be kept at home? Liveried? Stable management routine? What kind of knowledgeable instruction and tuition is on hand to help with the new pony? By speaking with instructors and professionals and not just parents to get genuine assessment of a jockey’s skill and confidence level is very important in order to ensure that the matches that I make are sustainable.
I turn away as many clients as I take on if I believe their expectations are unrealistic or they cannot offer a safe, secure and knowledgeable environment to help transition a pony to a new life. Equally if I feel the client naïve or out of touch with the market as to a required budget or jockey skill level I will turn down the business. It is for this reason that I have so many success stories, I would never wish to offend but equally will not take your money unless I truly believe I can help make your horse and pony dreams come true.
My aim is always to create Bonafide, long lasting pairings and by putting the pony 1st and never setting horse, pony, child or parent up to fail!!
Repeated feedback I receive from clients is that it’s really helpful to have an impartial voice (and often a mums perspective) whose ideas are unmuddied by emotion and who can view and review ponies and pony adverts pragmatically.
My network is huge, I am abreast of the good, the bad and the ugly and the more common problem of scammers! My barometer for what is good and what compromises need to be made is on point. I will sit in on vetting’s on average 1 per week so can help translate (pragmatically) issues around wear and tear and maintenance.
I only ever work with a maximum of 6 clients at any one time all over the country so never have a conflict of interests. Many of my pony pairing clients will move on either through skill level or height in two or three years and those parents would prefer to offer their super horses and ponies through me rather than have to deal with a minefield that is the open market.
Buyers and sellers alike trust me to make sound pairings never setting the pony or jockey up to fail so often I have a small bank of proven great horses or ponies not currently available on the open market.
Our Service:
The service I offer includes end to end help, advice and support. I contact my extensive national network of breeder’s, producers and reputable dealers and communicate with private vendors asking the pertinent questions and getting the relevant videos. From these we can often discount a huge percentage of the market to do to the unsoundness or and suitability.
As part of the service I will advise on; negotiating, vetting’s, transport costs, correct pony management, training programmes, tack fitting and put you in touch with reputable instructors Pony Clubs and Riding Clubs in your area in order to offer continued support if necessary. But most importantly
I CARE, I AM INVESTED IN YOU & YOUR JOURNEY!!
I will not try to “fit a square peg in a round hole” just because a certain pony is in available in my network does not make it right for you. I will not penalise the performance end of the market or push for higher priced horses by taking a percentage commission based upon value of the horse. But I do value my time, expertise and bespoke approach to each and every client and so am also not the cheapest.
Whether your budget is £5K or £50K I have the bandwidth, knowledge, confidence and network to help you on your journey. Please WhatsApp me directly for further information.
“I cannot magic up the perfect pony, but through knowledge, expertise, pertinent questioning and thorough due diligence. I can help prevent you from making an expensive mistake.”
